Ddo drow

Drow elves are basically similar to all other elves Aerenal, Valenar, or Khorvaire. Approximately 39, years ago Elves were slaves to the Giants of the Xen'Drik continent. After a war with invaders from the Plane of Dal Quor nearly ruined the Giant's civilization and wrecked the continent, the elves rose up in rebellion against the giants. Many fled Xen'Drik, landing on an island continent they named Aerenal.

The elves that remained on Xen'Drik became the known as the drow elves. Delving deep underground or wandering the lush jungles of the continent, the drow became more powerful than their blood brethren, and yet more distanced and distrustful from the cultures of friendly races. Drow often worship a scorpion god called Vulkoor, often depicted with the lower body of a scorpion and the upper body of a drow. The drow of Menechtarun are believed to especially do so, to the point that they are sometimes addressed as the Vulkoorim.

They revere all types of scorpions and consider other arachnids to be lesser servants of Vulkoor. Many researchers believe that Vulkoor is an incarnation of the Mockery. Many religious drow scar themselves using scorpion venom to leave white scars on their black skin. Drow were once known as Dark Elves. In DR their goddess Araushnee betrayed her fellow Seldarine and, along with Ghaunadaur, Vhaeraun, Malar and others they tried to invade Arvandor.

Afterwards Araushnee was cast into the Abyss, where she took the name Lolth. Of the dark elf nations, Ilythiir and Miyeritar, Ilythiir was the most powerful. After many malicious acts and abuses of elven magic, Corellon Larethian banished the Lolth's followers to the Underdarkwhere most of the drow in the Forgotten Realms still reside.

Here, drow city-states are spread throughout the world, bastions of evil and demonic dealings sanctioned by the Spider Queen. Chief among these cities in DDO is Sschindylryn. Their skin tends to be so black in color it may appear to have a bluish or purplish sheen; in contrast, their hair is almost always a brilliant, shining white.

The colors of drow elf eyes range generally from maroon to bright red, though some drow elves have been noted to have an extremely light pink close to the color grey or even completely white eyes; if this is a sign of power, or some strange trait carried through the bloodlines of drow families, none can tell the answer. Neither males nor females grow any facial or body hair, apart from that on their heads and scalp. An elf is considered an adult about years old, and can often live to be well over years old.

Drow elves are generally more cunning and charismatic than other "typical" elves, able to think faster on their toes and intimidate or sweet-talk other beings in a more fashioned manner than the other elves; this does not indicate that they are any wiser. They most likely gained their heightened physical prowess from their conflicted and blood-filled history serving time as giantese slaves or waging war against their captors. Drow elves are equally dexterous and frail as their blood brethren.

Poisons are favored by the drow of the Underdarkespecially a powerful knockout poison made from a slippery black fungus growing in certain Underdark caverns, but other poisons can be made from purple worms, scorpions, and spiders. Revised 3. Jump to: navigationsearch.

DDO has released them as a separate race, although they share several racial traits and enhancements with elves. No account, not even VIP, starts with access to Drow. To unlock this race, you must complete quests with one of your existing non-Drow characters. Once any single character achieves a total favor rating ofyou may speak to the Drow Elder, Nyx Durandimionand the race is yours to use for new builds on that same server.

You need to unlock Drow separately on each server [ official ]unless you buy it via the DDO store see below. You probably have better things to do with DP. Note that unlike any other race, the Drow race does not use the standard Point-Build once you have that unlocked.

Moreover, when you choose Drow after a reincarnationyou will only be given 30 Points on the first and 32 Points on every subsequent true reincarnation. Elves do not sleep as other races do. Instead they meditate, descending into a trance-like state that lasts for about four hours each day, which is equal to around 8 hours of sleep for the other races. This lack of sleep gives all drow and elves a natural immunity to sleep and clouding of the mind due to weariness cause by lack of sleep, whether the urge to rest be brought on by magical or more mundane forces.

Drow elves can be found in virtually any part of Xen'Drik. They are semi-nomadic, traveling through the jungles of Xen'drik and searching old ruins for anything that can help them survive; this often gets the drow wanderers into scuffles with the leading religious powers, especially The Undying Court, which is purely elvish by heritage, apart from the fact that elves already hate drow and vice versa. When not living in the ruins of ancient giant cities, they are often living underground in the various cave systems.

Strong decoder settings

Drow elves that have escaped to the surface are typically semi-nomadic and secretive, distancing themselves from common society. Thus, they have not really established any lasting "realms", and have created no government or ruling power as of yet.

However, the realms below the ground are as dark as their pitch-black surroundings, consisting of frequent fighting, assassinations, and betrayal to gain power. Drow elves are not known to carry any dragonmarks. As dragonmarks are usually signs that the possessors play a part in the Prophecy, this does not bode well for the future and importance of the drow in later times.

Whether this is due to the Gods' lack of attention to the drow, or the fact that the drow have not yet found and harnessed the powers of hidden dragonmarks, none can say. However, there have been drow elves who have been looked kindly upon by those from Above; these "favored souls", as they are often known as, are living proof that the drow are not entirely excluded from the designs of the powerful deities, and so the drow may yet prove to gain one of their own dragonmarks.

Surface-dwelling drow elves live and travel in small family tribes or bands. They have little interaction with other bands of drow elves, and even less with outsiders.

They consider themselves to be the true preservers of elven dignity and valor and consider the elves that fled to Aerenal to be cowards. It is a vast realm, where darkness pervades and danger lunks sic at every unseen corner. It is home to the Drow, amongst other things The Underdark is a level 22 wilderness adventure areaallowing characters from levels 20 to 26 to get full experience.

It is located in the Forgotten Realms. There are two ways to access this area. These are two different entrances, and get you to different starting points in the map. The King's Forest entrance is very close to the Sschindylryn portal entrance.

Once the Sschindylryn central portal has been unlocked, you can enter the city from the Eveningstar cavern and then exit the Sschindylryn zone to the Underdark close to the King's Forest entrance.

Until it is unlocked, the portal is not visible to the character except on the map. There is another portal in the Underdark at the ruins of Riz Malag explorer option. Once this has been found and the Sschindylryn portal unlocked, as aboveit is available as an optional entrance point to the Underdark from the Eveningstar Cavern.

Although the Underdark is true to its name it's dark! These goggles will not help in other low-light quests such as Rainbow in the Dark. True to its pen-and-paper namesake, getting disoriented in the Underdark is easy.

[DDO] A holy inquisitor that just feels right

Take advantage of the maps provided in this article. The Underdark is arguably the second largest wilderness area in terms of sheer height the The King's Forest is probably larger in area but The Storm Horns trumps in both categorieswith many levels and few access points to reach explorer points and rare enemies. Dead-ends often have powerful and deadly rares. Feather fall is important here to reach some ledges. Monks and Favored Souls have advantage here with their long-jump abilities. Most parties will be prepared to fight anything they encounter—and there is much that will find you there.

A stealthy approach allows casual exploration without attracting attention. Unlike most explorer zones, the Underdark have scattered around their zones some bear traps and spell wards. They can be disabled as any normal traps. The Drow city of Sschindylryn is another adventure area, accessible from this zone. The four quests required to advance the raid flagging arc the entire second quest chain series are located in Sschindylryn, not in this area.

So you must gain initial access here through the Underdark. The easiest way to get to Sschindylryn via the Underdark is by going to the very southern part of The King's Forest and using the cave there.

Then use that portal which takes you back to the Eveningstar Cavern and from that point on you may use the Eveningstar Cavern portal to get to the city, by way of a portal that rests on the southern outskirts of the city, and the quests within. Should you use the portal located in the heart of the city to take you to other locations, any future uses of portals to get to the city will take you to that inner city portal and not the southern outskirts portal that leads to the city via the main bridge.

Enemies that may normally patrol around this portal will not be present if you zone in before others in party enter into the city's main entrance, which triggers enemies to spawn. The red dragon Micahrastir doesn't always spawn on the instance. In fact, when he is absent the "Dragon's Roost" doesn't look like a dragon's nest at all no gold pile, no nothing. When he is there, two chests and gold pile appears. By backspacing these from below the nest, around the salamanders' area, you can check if he is there or not without running all the way up the "Grand Waterfall" side way.

For this reason it is recommended to enter the Underdark area from eastern entrance Merchant Campif you are going for the dragon fight. The bridge to the nest gets destroyed shortly after starting the fight. So all the party members must be together on the platform in order to participate on the fight and get loot after.

And yes, Micahrastir can wing-buffet you off the platform. Note that active blocking will negate the wing buffet. If you have no choice but to melee, blocking continuously while taking shots immediately after each of Micahrastir's attacks may help.Favor is gained with each quest a character completes, based on the highest difficulty ever completed for that quest.

It measures how well respected your character is by one or all of 16 different NPC patron factions within the game, the sponsors who are hiring your character to accomplish a given quest. By performing more quests for these different patrons or the same quest at a higher difficultya character gains more Favor which then can unlock special access to different benefits for that character, and occasionally for your DDO account.

Each character accumulates its own favor; most favor rewards will not apply to your other characters, but some will apply to future Characters on the same account on the same server. Current favor, for any of the different Patrons and your Total Favorcan be viewed under the "Patrons" tab of the Adventure Compendium.

When your character completes a quest, it gains a pre-set amount of favor points for a specific patron, which is a measure of how much value that patron places on the completion of that quest at that difficulty level.

Only the highest difficulty level completed counts toward your favor total; repeating a quest on the same or lower difficulty will not increase your favor.

Favor and favor rewards are not tied to experience points or levelbut quests that provide favor will be of a specific level, and characters may be too low-level to enter a quest to gain that favor.

There is no favor penalty for running a quest that is lower in level than a character, although there can be a significant experience penalty. Occasionally a party advertising in Grouping will describe itself as "For favor only" or as a "Favor Run". The implication is that little, if any, XP will be rewarded or sought, and the quest s may be very low-level compared to the high level of characters in the party. However, any account rewards previously gained from that character will not be lost.

See the Reincarnation Summary Chart for more info. Favor is calculated based on only the difficulty setting Normal, Hard, or Elite and ignores whether the quest is completed at Heroic or Epic levels. So, repeating a quest on Epic Normal or Epic Hard will not increase favor if the quest had previously been best completed at Heroic Hard; however, completing that quest on Elite either Heroic or Epic would increase favor. It is not enough to simply earn the appropriate amount of favor - a character must also claim the reward offered to them.

To do that, once reaching the required favor, you simply need to speak to the representative of the faction that is giving you the reward. Whenever you reach a new favor tier with some patron, the patron representative will send you a mail telling you to speak to them. Simultaneously, the Patrons tab in your Adventure Compendium default shortcut p will be updated, and the next Favor goal will be listed. If enough favor for more than one reward has been acquired, you must speak to the Patron once for each reward to be claimed.

It is not uncommon for favor to not be updated immediately after finishing a quest. This will not prevent you from claiming your favor reward with a patron. It is occasionally necessary to log out and log back in for the current favor count to be accurately displayed in the Adventure Compendiumand speaking with a Patron and claiming a reward will also update your favor.

For every favor a character gets, 25 DDO Points are added to the account. There are also special one-time rewards for reaching 5, 25, 50, favor for the first time in a server with any character. When you reincarnate a character and the favor is reset, each favor you reacquire will again net you 25 DP. This is a list of the rewards given by the different patrons. Note that the amount of favor needed to unlock "equivalent" tiers can vary from patron to patron.

In-game, you can find specific information about quests completed and favor gained by hitting p by default and opening the Adventure Compendium. Free players cannot get favor from all patrons due to the lack of free quests giving that type of favor. The amounts of free favor that can be achieved as well as the max favor for each patron are noted under each patron name. This doesn't mean that players need to become Premium or VIP to achieve higher favor tiers since adventure packs can be purchased by free players by grinding DDO Points as mentioned above.

Note that free players can access non-free challenges with universal tokens so challenge favor counts as free favor. The Drow city of Sschindylryn is known as the City of Portals. The only way in or out of the city's cavern is by using the magical gateways.

Sschindylryn is another level 22 wilderness adventure areaallowing characters from levels 20 to 26 to get full experience. It is a drow city found deep within the Underdark. To access this area, running through the Underdark and finding the portal gate to Sschindylryn is required. You must go through this gate at least once; this will unlock a portal in the Eveningstar Cavern for easy access to Sschindylryn.

There are four quests to be completed at the various Drow Houses.

Third Time's a Charm

The storyline takes you back to Eveningstar after each quest, so that you can collect your end reward. The chain end reward offers possible named items. Each journal works similar to Explorer points is worth 1, XPthe bonus for finding all of them is 11, XP. Note that there are two Missive 5s; finding the second one doesn't give you any XP. As mentioned before, the normality assumption can be evaluated by looking at the distribution of the data (via histograms) or by performing a normality test. The equality of variances assumption can be verified with the F test, or you can use the more robust Levene's test. If these conditions are not met, then you can evaluate the differences in means between two groups using one of the nonparametric alternatives to the t- test (see Nonparametrics and Distribution Fitting).

The p-level reported with a t-test represents the probability of error involved in accepting our research hypothesis about the existence of a difference. Technically speaking, this is the probability of error associated with rejecting the hypothesis of no difference between the two categories of observations (corresponding to the groups) in the population when, in fact, the hypothesis is true.

Some researchers suggest that if the difference is in the predicted direction, you can consider only one half (one "tail") of the probability distribution and thus divide the standard p-level reported with a t-test (a "two-tailed" probability) by two. Others, however, suggest that you should always report the standard, two-tailed t-test probability.

See also, Student's t Distribution. In order to perform the t-test for independent samples, one independent (grouping) variable (e.

The means of the dependent variable will be compared between selected groups based on the specified values (e. The following data set can be analyzed with a t-test comparing the average WCC score in males and females.

In the t-test analysis, comparisons of means and measures of variation in the two groups can be visualized in box and whisker plots (for an example, see the graph below). These graphs help you to quickly evaluate and "intuitively visualize" the strength of the relation between the grouping and the dependent variable. More Complex Group Comparisons.

It often happens in research practice that you need to compare more than two groups (e. In these cases, you need to analyze the data using Analysis of Variance, which can be considered to be a generalization of the t-test. However, when the design is more complex, ANOVA offers numerous advantages that t-tests cannot provide (even if you run a series of t- tests comparing various cells of the design).

To index Within-group Variation. As explained in Elementary Concepts, the size of a relation between two variables, such as the one measured by a difference in means between two groups, depends to a large extent on the differentiation of values within the group. Depending on how differentiated the values are in each group, a given "raw difference" in group means will indicate either a stronger or weaker relationship between the independent (grouping) and dependent variable.

However, if the same difference of 2 was obtained from very differentiated scores (e. That is to say, reduction of the within-group variation increases the sensitivity of our test. The t-test for dependent samples helps us to take advantage of one specific type of design in which an important source of within-group variation (or so-called, error) can be easily identified and excluded from the analysis.

Specifically, if two groups of observations (that are to be compared) are based on the same sample of subjects who were tested twice (e. However, if the same sample was tested twice, then we can easily identify (or "subtract") this variation. Specifically, instead of treating each group separately, and analyzing raw scores, we can look only at the differences between the two measures (e.

By subtracting the first score from the second for each subject and then analyzing only those "pure (paired) differences," we will exclude the entire part of the variation in our data set that results from unequal base levels of individual subjects. This is precisely what is being done in the t-test for dependent samples, and, as compared to the t-test for independent samples, it always produces "better" results (i.

If these assumptions are clearly not met, then one of the nonparametric alternative tests should be used. Technically, we can apply the t-test for dependent samples to any two variables in our data set. However, applying this test will make very little sense if the values of the two variables in the data set are not logically and methodologically comparable.

Following, is an example of a data set that can be analyzed using the t-test for dependent samples. WCC before WCC after case 1 case 2 case 3 case 4 case 5. However, the t-test for dependent samples analysis is performed only on the paired differences"ignoring" the raw scores and their potential differentiation. Thus, the size of this particular difference of 1 will be compared not to the differentiation of raw scores but to the differentiation of the individual difference scores, which is relatively small: 0.

Compared to that variability, the difference of 1 is extremely large and can yield a highly significant t value. If there are more than two "correlated samples" (e. The repeated measures ANOVA can be considered a generalization of the t-test for dependent samples and it offers various features that increase the overall sensitivity of the analysis.

The breakdowns analysis calculates descriptive statistics and correlations for dependent variables in each of a number of groups defined by one or more grouping (independent) variables. The researchers were interested in determining whether increased illumination would increase the productivity of the assembly line workers. The researchers first measured the productivity in the plant, then modified the illumination in an area of the plant and checked if the changes in illumination affected productivity.

It turned out that productivity indeed improved (under the experimental conditions). However, the study is heavily criticized today for errors in experimental procedures, specifically for the lack of a control group and blindness.

The Hawthorne effect refers to finding that an outcome (in this case, worker productivity) changed due to observation itself. Those in the Hawthorne study became more productive not because the lighting was changed but because they were being observed.

This type of study typically uses a survey to collect observations about the area of interest and then performs statistical analysis. In this case, the researchers would collect observations of both smokers and non-smokers, perhaps through a cohort study, and then look for the number of cases of lung cancer in each group.

Various attempts have been made to produce a taxonomy of levels of measurement. The psychophysicist Stanley Smith Stevens defined nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio scales. Nominal measurements do not have meaningful rank order among values, and permit any one-to-one transformation.

Ordinal measurements have imprecise differences between consecutive values, but have a meaningful order to those values, and permit any order-preserving transformation. Interval measurements have meaningful distances between measurements defined, but the zero value is arbitrary (as in the case with longitude and temperature measurements in Celsius or Fahrenheit), and permit any linear transformation.

Ratio measurements have both a meaningful zero value and the distances between different measurements defined, and permit any rescaling transformation. Because variables conforming only to nominal or ordinal measurements cannot be reasonably measured numerically, sometimes they are grouped together as categorical variables, whereas ratio and interval measurements are grouped together as quantitative variables, which can be either discrete or continuous, due to their numerical nature.

Such distinctions can often be loosely correlated with data type in computer science, in that dichotomous categorical variables may be represented with the Boolean data type, polytomous categorical variables with arbitrarily assigned integers in the integral data type, and continuous variables with the real data type involving floating point computation.

But the mapping of computer science data types to statistical data types depends on which categorization of the latter is being implemented. Other categorizations have been proposed. Whether or not a transformation is sensible to contemplate depends on the question one is trying to answer" (Hand, 2004, p.

The probability distribution of the statistic, though, may have unknown parameters. Commonly used estimators include sample mean, unbiased sample variance and sample covariance. Widely used pivots include the z-score, the chi square statistic and Student's t-value. Between two estimators of a given parameter, the one with lower mean squared error is said to be more efficient.

Furthermore, an estimator is said to be unbiased if its expected value is equal to the true value of the unknown parameter being estimated, and asymptotically unbiased if its expected value converges at the limit to the true value of such parameter.

Other desirable properties for estimators include: UMVUE estimators that have the lowest variance for all possible values of the parameter to be estimated (this is usually an easier property to verify than efficiency) and consistent estimators which converges in probability to the true value of such parameter. This still leaves the question of how to obtain estimators in a given situation and carry the computation, several methods have been proposed: the method of moments, the maximum likelihood method, the least squares method and the more recent method of estimating equations.

Interpretation of statistical information can often involve the development of a null hypothesis which is usually (but not necessarily) that no relationship exists among variables or that no change occurred over time. The null hypothesis, H0, asserts that the defendant is innocent, whereas the alternative hypothesis, H1, asserts that the defendant is guilty. The indictment comes because of suspicion of the guilt.
